Folateng - “Place of healing”
The Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital has a private wing, Folateng, a Sotho name meaning “Place of healing”. Each ward gives the patient the quality and convenience of private health care with specialist physicians and cutting edge technology that only a long-established hospital has the capacity to offer. Folateng is a network of private wards that are set up within Gauteng public hospitals. Patients have access to the expertise and experience of dedicated health professionals who are constantly exposed to the academic environment of a large world-class teaching, tertiary hospital. Services are unique to each hospital and thus allow provision of care to the patient at an appropriate level and allow referral to the appropriate Folateng wards for service that is required. Services include:
- World class surgery
- Oncology
- Non-invasive gastroscopy equipment
- Specialised radiography investigation
- Dedicated ICU facilities
- Digitally enhanced catheter laboratories
- Latest CT Scanning equipment
- Allied services
One of the most attractive features of a Folateng ward is that it gives the patient the standard of care available to private patients with the abundance of facilities that form part of an established provincial hospital.
